Teriyaki Boy, Balmain

Amy Richardson – who started her wonderful Pretty Pretty Yum Yum blog while living in Osaka – is one of the most Japanese-savvy people I know. So when she tipped Teriyaki Boy in Balmain as her fave place to get her tempura/agedashi/sashimi fix, I knew I had to try it out. And yes, this cosy […]

Macaron Day at Adriano Zumbo

Macaron Day at Adriano Zumbo

It’s Macaron Day at Adriano Zumbo in Balmain. Here’s a quick lunchtime post. I arrived at the patisserie at 8.30am and the line was ridiculous and (unencouragingly) not moving at all. But, 40 minutes later (a lot of it spent snooping on other people’s print-outs of the 45ish flavours on offer), I ended up with […]

Adriano Zumbo eye candy (again!)

I know Adriano Zumbo in Balmain is so heavily blogged about but I couldn’t pass up the chance to use these eye-stunning pictures. A few weeks ago, Will rang me to ask which food items he should shoot for his last photo lighting class. Without a beat, I knew where he had to go. Adriano […]

Three Minute Sydney (and some Adriano Zumbo carrot-stick for you)

All good blogging intentions got slightly derailed when I discovered I’d won the open call-out for Three Minute Sydney. So, ack, sorry, more blog delays (even the trains are more reliable than me right now!). I’ve been busy re-reading what I’m going to say and trying to slim down my chances of looking like a […]

An easter egg hunt from A-B: Adora, Adriano Zumbo, Belle Fleur and Boon

Buying a jumbo bag of supermarket Easter eggs and leaving a Hansel & Gretel-esque trail of coloured foil around your living room is pretty much a major tradition at this time of year. I’m as happy as anyone else to leave crinkly metallic scraps of yellow and pink “eggshell” around, but I also like the […]

Everything must go: blog stocktake sale

In one big broom-sweep, I’ve found all these blog-dust-bunnies that have been lurking in my “Draft” folder over the last year. So I decided to wipe them clean and give them an airing. In the same way stores go crazy around Dec/January – purging their storerooms and piling their shopfronts high with price-slashed items – […]

About

Hi, I'm Lee Tran Lam. When not blogging with my mouth full, I'm usually writing, presenting Local Fidelity on FBi radio, making zines, producing podcasts or continually breaking promises about how I really am gonna get through my book pile one day.

All the good pictures on this blog are by photography ace (and patient boyfriend), Will Reichelt, (all the dodgy ones can be credited to me)!

The lovely banner is by friend and ultra-talented illustrator Grace Lee.

This site redesign was made possible by the next-level generosity and expertise of Daniel Boud, whose code-tinkering ways are only outranked by his seriously inspired way with a camera.

You can read more about my co-conspirators here.

This is a blog I do for pure fun and zero influence – there's no sponsorship, sneaky advertorial or advertising. I pay for all the food mentioned, 'cos it seems the ethical thing to do.
