La Lupita, The Basement, Sydney

La Lupita unpacks a lot of fun and firepower at The Basement in Circular Quay. This colourful installment to the music venue gives you a reason to visit beyond the bands commanding the stage. While this Mexican eatery has only recently taken up residency at this site, La Lupita isn’t entirely a newcomer to the […]

Cafe Nice, Circular Quay

This might be the shortest post I ever need to write – the team behind Fratelli Fresh opened a new restaurant on Friday. It’s French. Just go. OK, so if you’re still here – and haven’t abandoned this blog in a record-breaking rush – here are some details you might find handy. The place is […]

Opera Kitchen, Sydney

Yes, even the opening of Opera Kitchen was pushed back because of Oprah Winfrey. It’s amazing that the powerhouse talk-show host managed to make the whole country hit the pause button, but now that she’s left Australia, you can head down to lower concourse of the Opera House and check out this new venture. Located […]

Cruise, Circular Quay & The Summit, Sydney

January is a fast-disappearing month. It’s like the guest that leaves your party without saying goodbye. January makes such a whirlwind exit, I think, because there’s so much on (Sydney Festival, Australia Day, New Year’s, holidays, concerts galore) and all these events always come with a good excuse for eating. Anyway – the January blur […]

Guylian Belgian Chocolate Cafe, Circular Quay

OK, in the book of food blog sins, I have to admit to having never been to the Lindt Chocolate Cafe in Sydney. (It’s on my list, really!) But I haven’t been so slowcoach when it comes to its new rival joint – tonight, I was given a hand-me-down invite (the only kind I receive!) […]

About

Hi, I'm Lee Tran Lam. When not blogging with my mouth full, I'm usually writing, presenting Local Fidelity on FBi radio, making zines, producing podcasts or continually breaking promises about how I really am gonna get through my book pile one day.

All the good pictures on this blog are by photography ace (and patient boyfriend), Will Reichelt, (all the dodgy ones can be credited to me)!

The lovely banner is by friend and ultra-talented illustrator Grace Lee.

This site redesign was made possible by the next-level generosity and expertise of Daniel Boud, whose code-tinkering ways are only outranked by his seriously inspired way with a camera.

You can read more about my co-conspirators here.

This is a blog I do for pure fun and zero influence – there's no sponsorship, sneaky advertorial or advertising. I pay for all the food mentioned, 'cos it seems the ethical thing to do.

About

This is a blog about eating and drinking in Sydney, Australia (with the odd cross-border or off-topic detour). BYO appetite.
