Sometimes the surprise factor gets ironed out of Christmas, with so many things done on repeat mode from the year before (and the year before that). So a jolt of the new is a welcome schedule change.
Thankfully, MakMak refreshes its line-up each season and has just introduced Ginger Caramel, Pavlova, Gianduja and the holiday-resonant Christmas Pudding & Custard to its range.
I’m slowly making my way through the box I just ordered (it’s hard to find appetite to spare during Christmas oversocialising season), but the Pavlova is a nice, coconutty consolation to losing claim to that dessert to New Zealand, while the Gianduja is so blazingly good, it might just shortcircuit all your senses: it’s nut-flecked, utterly chocolate-lavish and hiding a prized macadamia right in the middle. If someone can induct Gianduja macarons into the Christmas tradition (booting out boring puddings, perhaps), the holidays would be mammothly better. In the meantime, I’m happy to start my own custom by default …
MakMak is now available at a range of stockists, including Via Del Corso in Westfield Sydney, Baffi & Mo in Redfern, Cafe Lounge in Surry Hills, Da Piccolo at The Marriott Hyde Park, Le Depot in Ultimo and Kantine in Surry Hills. You can also order a box of 12 for $25 directly from the company. Head to the website to find out more.Tags: Christmas, macarons, MakMak
